The making of the silk: MBA and MBB host the maiden call to bar and conferment of senior advocate of malabor ceremony

The Information reaching the Nigeria union of campus journalist university of calabar chapter report the making of the silks MBA & MBB which which hosted THE MAIDEN CALL TO BAR AND CONFERMENT OF SENIOR ADVOCATES OF MALABOR CEREMONY.

Excel Nwogu reported that 18th of March, 2021 remains a historic and red-letter day in the annals of history of Students' union Government and Legal Practice in University of Calabar Jurisdiction.  It's a day that marked a symbolic advent of a breed new battalion of legal armies.

The Malabor call to bar and Conferment of Senior Advocates of Malabor kick-started with  the arrival of high profile diginatries including the Chief Judge of Cross River State ably represented.


Applicants for call to bar took their seats in the auditorium, dressed in Barristers' robe and so also the members of the Malabor Bar Council.

The Solemn procession of the body of 

benchers to the auditorium of the event followed suit; such a beautiful sight to behold. The Secretary to the body of benchers , Hon. Alex Olajide welcomed dignitaries and  sought the leave of the Chairman of the Malabor Bar Council to present the candidate and aspirants to the Bar who have successfully completed their training and Bar Examinations. The Leave was granted and these said candidates were called for the call to bar Proper.

The Representative of the the Chief Judge of Cross River State performed the call to Bar ceremony and a total of 55 applicants alongside all LL.B 5 Final year Students were called to the Malabor Bar as Solicitors and Advocates of the Malabor Court of appeal.

The second wing of the occasion was the call to the inner bar( Conferment of Senior Advocates of Malabor). The Secretary to the body of benchers also reeled out the name of legal practitioners to be conferred with silk.

The representative of the Chief Judge of Cross River State Confered this revered rank to the following 10 legal practitioners:

The representative of the Chief Judge of Cross River state presented a key note address on the legal practice in modern times.

The epochal event reached it's crescendo with the presentation of award to the Chief Judge, Mba Ukweni SAN, Elder Efefiom Otu Efiom Ekong SAM, Obiosio Felix Esq. and other distinguished legal practitioners and students that have contributed to the development of law and the Society. Certificate of Call and Conferment were presented to qualified candidates

The event was brought to an end with the procession of the body of benchers out of the auditorium.

There was picture sessions and the other celebrations.

Indeed this is a precursor to the standard quality of legal practice that has been enthroned in MALABOR JUDICIAL DIVISION.
