On the late hours of thursday, around 4:10 PM they was a peaceful protest in the federal university of calabar, calabar cross river state.
The protest which started from the campus hostel malabor leading to the vice chancellor office did not go well as planned by the students because special anti rubbery squat (SARS) were now invited into the matter to chase the students from carrying out their fundamental right. The students proceeded the protest to the school main gate but we're still chase by SARS.According to one of the protesters Barrister Achibong Edet that was interviewed by the police, the protest was about the just conducted university student union Government election which was not free and fare as described by the protesters.
Some of the activities that were conducted before and after the election as described by the protester were all not pure because the online voting election was to start by 12pm but it started around 1pm.
According to them, we were unable to vote for our candidate of choice because the website was down for more than five minute and the other candidate was already leading with 700 vote they further went forward to say that the candidate leading did not campaign therefore he is not known by the students and should not be leading with such number of vote therefore they are calling on the school management to cancel the election.Link to videos
